Experience Summer Camp on a Farm!

The Country Experience is a summer, week-long sleepaway camp for 7-12 year olds who enjoy being outdoors, who love animals, and are curious about experiences and life on a farm.

The youth-size environment has been prepared so campers can be “inside the fences,” experiencing considerable choice and freedom, within clear guidelines, making new friends as they care for animals, run and play on the wide lawn and create meals from the garden they’ve helped tend.

On the farm there's always something fun to do.

Activities:

The literally hundreds of activity choices at The Country Experience are made up of the real-life needs and opportunities of the farm.

Care of animals: Collect eggs; play with the bunnies; feed, water and health-check goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cows, horses, pigs.

Playtime, organized and free-choice: swing on the willow, go fishing, play capture the flag, relax in a hammock, toss horseshoes, walk the path, craft-time, explore the fort, catch frogs, look for bald eagles.

Prepare meals: make jam or applesauce, plant and harvest vegetables, bake bread, find raspberries, grind wheat for flour.

Build and create: mend a fence, repair a rabbit hutch, build a chicken brooder, collect hay, cut firewood, create a farm game to take home.

The hands-on experiences and real-world tools build an appreciation for the value of time and effort, a respect for life and nature, and development of important life skills including communication, responsibility, decision-making, teamwork, and respect for self and others.

Outcomes:

Our goal is for your child to have fun, experience new things, develop friendships, get outdoors and away from electronics and most importantly, fully understand their unique and combined contributions over the course of a week. “Growing kids” means we will have supported and challenged your child to the point that they are both confident and considering enough to think about who they are, who they want to be, and how they might go about creating that for themselves.
